Tactical Advice Explainer
(MP for Isle of Wight East)
Data last calculated 30th June 2024
We've manually set advice for this constituency because:
- The Isle of Wight has been split into 2 constituencies for the first time at this election.
- The Green Party won the East Wight Primary, where locals voted for their preferred progressive party to beat the Tory party. Those voting in the primary were a self-selecting sample of constituents, so may not be representative of other voters.
- Labour are ahead in polls, but MRPs generally struggle to model small parties with very localised support - this will be especially true in a fast-moving situation such as Isle of Wight East.
- Isle of Wight East is not one of the four target seats announced by the Green Party, but there appears to be a higher level of on the ground campaigning by the Greens here than is typical for a non-target seat.
- In 2019, the Liberal Democrats stood aside on the Isle of Wight, and supported the Green candidate. It is unclear if former Lib Dem voters will return to the party in 2024.
- Because of this range of complex factors affecting the Isle of Wight East, we are unable to make a tactical voting recommendation at this time.

13 million people could vote tactically in July's general election.
That's roughly a third of voters showing up just to get the Tories out.
