Tactical Advice Explainer
(MP for Chingford and Woodford Green)
Data last calculated 30th June 2024
We've manually set advice for this constituency because:
- There is an active local campaign by independent candidate Faiza Shaheen, who was the Labour candidate but has been deselected by Labour. A number of Labour activists have quit the party to back Faiza, who was also the Labour candidate in 2019.
- Labour are ahead in polls, but MRPs generally struggle to model small parties or independents with very localised support - this will be especially true in a fast-moving situation which is making national news such as Chingford and Woodford Green, where Faiza Shaheen only announced she would stand as an independent on the 5th June.
- It is not clear how many voters who would normally back Labour will vote for Faiza.
- There is a significant risk that a split vote between Labour and Faiza could result in the Tory candidate - Iain Duncan Smith - remaining an MP with only around a third of the vote.

POLITICAL POWER FOR REAL CHANGE BY VOTING SMARTLY AND STICKING TOGETHER
13 million people could vote tactically in July's general election.
That's roughly a third of voters showing up just to get the Tories out.
